An Organic Modern Ensuite for Jordan

An Organic Modern Ensuite for Jordan

At its core, an ensuite should support how you begin and end each day. For Jordan, that meant designing a space that felt intuitive, calming, and deeply grounding. Instead of chasing a sleek, high-contrast aesthetic, the design leans into warmth, texture, and materiality, creating a room that feels calm without being flat, and layered without feeling busy.

Tiles as the Design Foundation

From the outset, Jordan used tiles as the foundation of the design. Three distinct tiles were carefully selected, each chosen not to stand alone, rather to work together in harmony. By keeping the palette cohesive and earth-led, the design allows variation in texture and scale to bring interest while maintaining a sense of calm.

Warmth and Rhythm

Within the shower area, Tuscan Earth tiles in subway format were used to introduce warmth and subtle movement. Their smaller format creates a gentle rhythm across the walls, wrapping the space in texture and giving the shower a more enclosed, cocooning feel.

To balance the richness of the terracotta-look tiles, Jordan specified Tivoli Beige matt porcelain tiles throughout the remainder of the ensuite. The larger format and soft beige tone bring visual calm, allowing the space to feel open and relaxed while complementing the warmth of the smaller wall tiles.

Grounding the Space

Underfoot, Roma Esplanade terrazzo look tiles in matt finish anchor the room. Their gentle variation adds depth without distraction, tying beautifully into the natural palette and reinforcing the grounded, organic mood of the space. Texture Over Colour Together, the three tiles create contrast through texture rather than colour, a deliberate choice by Jordan to maintain a serene and cohesive atmosphere. The restrained palette allows the materials to speak for themselves, creating a sense of quiet sophistication.

An Organic Modern Finish

What elevates the design is how seamlessly the tiles interact with the other elements in the room, the curved bath, timber vanity, sculptural basin, and soft, ambient lighting. Nothing competes for attention; instead, each element enhances the next. The result is an ensuite that sits firmly within the organic modern style: warm, tactile, and timeless, with an understated spa-like quality. As intended, this space shows that mixing tiles doesn’t need to feel overwhelming. When you lead with mood and trust materials that share the same visual language, the outcome feels effortless, considered, and deeply calming.
